Academic Excellence Scholarship
The Academic Excellence Scholarship is awarded to new high school graduates from Cuyahoga County and neighboring counties each year. The scholarship provides awards up to $2,500 annually to be used for tuition and fees, for first two, consecutive years of study at Tri-C. Students must have a 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 or higher scale and demonstrate excellence in academics, leadership, and service. Be a resident of Cuyahoga county or neighboring counties to Cuyahoga county. Obtain a 3.00 or higher grade point average (GPA) in high school, on a 4.00 point scale, Submit an official high school transcript through the seventh high school semester to apply for the scholarship and provide an official high school transcript upon graduation to verify grade point average after notification of the award. NOTE: Students enrolled in College Credit Plus at Tri-C must also have a cumulative grade point average of 2.75 at Tri-C to be considered for this scholarship. Placement at college-level coursework in both English and math; as determined by the College’s administered assessment test, ACCUPLACER Test or ACT/SAT equivalence. Submit an essay, as outlined on the attached page. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) – www.fafsa.gov. OPTIONAL: Provide a written letter of recommendation from high school faculty or administrator. Scholarship is renewable for one (1) academic year, based on recipient maintaining a minimum cumulative grade point average at Cuyahoga Community College of 2.75 or higher each semester. Minimum credits per semester for the scholarship eligibility is twelve (12) credits. Students are encouraged to enroll in fifteen (15) credits each semester to graduate within two (2) years.
