JW Lennartz Environmental Sciences & Engineering Endowed Scholarship

The JW Lennartz Environmental Sciences & Engineering Endowed Scholarship seeks to help students who
are considering careers in the study or protection of our natural environment. Jeffrey Walter Lennartz, a
student at Tri-C West in the 1970s, established this fund in 2022. He earned degrees in chemical
engineering, was awarded several patents, and practiced material research for
major industries across five decades. Volunteering with nonprofit organizations, he has also devoted most of
his life to exploring and conserving natural lands throughout Northeast Ohio.
• Second-year student majoring in a STEM area of study (science, technology, engineering, or
mathematics). Preference to students enrolled in Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, or Engineering
Technology courses
• 2.75 GPA
• Financial need
• Resident of Cuyahoga County; preference to students residing in Cleveland
• Preference to students with a demonstrated interest in the environment who plan to transfer to a four year college
